Mlion collaborated with Gawad Kalinga to set up a feeding programme in Calamba Laguna, Philippines. The programme’s first cycle started in December 2023 and ended in April 2024. During this period, Mlion sponsored daily school lunches for 50 children at GK Majada Sibol School.
The children were between the ages of 2 and 7, with most of them around 4 years old. Before the feeding programme, the children were underweight according to their Body Mass Index (BMI). We are happy to say that the feeding programme helped to increase the BMI by 2.75 to an average of reading of 17.75.
Our sponsored meals were about improving the children’s nutrition and fostering their academic participation. By providing meals at the local school, we aimed to enhance the student’s academic attendance, ultimately empowering these children to build better lives for themselves and their community.
In addition to the daily school lunches, our team also celebrated the birthdays of the children every month. Seeing some of the thank-you notes from the children’s families was a very heartwarming experience for us. The kind words of appreciation remind us that we can make a difference in people’s lives.
